1. Comprehensive projects meeting the needs of the communities and health systems in the region selected. As most of the health problems are complex, a multi-dimensional project is always needed considering the entire spectrum from primary level up to tertiary care level. Each project composing of three pillars namely: capacity – building (training of NGO staff and healthcare workers), partnership (i.e. PNP to address sustainability aspect) and integrated applied research (for evidence-based policy changes).
2. Capacity Building is an integral part of SALI in which the SALI team and staff of partnering local NGOs attend training workshops (i.e. Taqaddum Workshops) including also training of healthcare workers in SALI approved projects
3. Partnership: all projects will be delivered through PNP model; bringing implementing NGO, funding agency, MOH and other related stakeholders on board from the start to address the sustainability issues from two dimensions namely: financial sustainability and scalability of the project.
4. Integrated Applied Research into SALI – approved projects to allow evaluation of projects and for evidence-based policy changes to promote success of the regarding continuation, scalability, replicability and sustainability.
